Critical Incident Stress Management is a comprehensive, integrated, systematic, and multi-component approach to managing traumatic events. This process is widely accepted by emergency response organizations across the United States and is supported by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).

The Del Norte CISM team has been formed to assist the first response agencies of our community to support volunteers and employees who, during duty, may have become involved in or exposed to incidents which have the potential for causing emotional and psychological distress. The Team is available for informal talk, outreach, education, defusing and debriefings.

The Team is available to all cooperating agencies within Del Norte County and their members, and may be able to assist outside of the County if requested and approved.
